Search Engine Optimization and Submission

What is involved in optimizing your Website?

This process requires you to work closely with the web designer. You know your business best. The web designer knows how to get your site seen by as many potential clients as possible. Hidden coding (meta tags), the way you describe your company or product (keywords and key phrases), how clients navigate their way through your website, plus a number of other factors will affect your ranking on a search engine. This must be worked on before you start submitting to Search Engines.

How is your web site submitted to a Search Engine?

It depend upon the Search Engine. The simplest require only that you put in the address of your Web Site and your e-mail address. These type of Search Engines will then send out 'spiders' that look at your Web Site. Your being seen then depends upon the content and style of your pages and hidden coding described above.

Many others require that you enter detailed information including Web Site address, title, description, key words, contact details and choose the relevant subdirectory or classification in which to place your Web Site, which can be quite time consuming.

How long does it take before my web site is indexed on the Search Engines?

It does not happen immediately. It can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months from the time of registration to being seen.

What do we do?

Search Engine submission needs to managed carefully in order to maximize visibility and ensure that your Web Site gets to the top of the list. The better placed you are on Search Engines, the more visitors you will get to your site, the more potential sales. Archwave Studio submits your Web Site to each Search Engine individually and keeps a record of the date submitted and the confirmation of submission returned by the Search Engine.

We then check the success of the submissions by entering the relevant 'key words'. We then provide you with a full report at the end of the initial submission period. Further reports are then filed at 3 months intervals to check on the progress of the submissions.

What happens if your Web Site does not appear on a particular Search Engine?

We will resubmit until it is seen. If needed we will review your entry details and meta tags to see if they need redefining.

How many Search Engines will we submit your Web Site to?

This depends upon your target audience, and will be calculated at the start of the submission process

Why not use one of the automated systems that supposedly send your details out to thousands of places?

If you were a Architectural Company in the USA would you spend money advertising in the Tazmanian Wallaby Spotters Magazine? Submission should not be seen as numbers game, but as part of your advertising and promotion strategy i.e. to be seen in the right places where it counts.

Will my search engine listings expire?

Over time, some search engines change their rule of ranking and do drop some old pages. Resubmission is the key. This is why we provides submission as part of a site maintenance program.
